Who should attend: Individuals concerned with the safe operation of chainsaws,including workers who regularly use chainsaws on their jobs such as loggers, wood workers, tree trimmers, nursery and landscape workers, park and road maintenanceworkers, etc. should attend. In addition, others involved in trail maintenance, emergency response or any situation where a chainsaw or wood chipper may be used, should also attend. You will learn: All of the necessary PPE required while operatinga chainsaw and wood chipper; How to perform a safety/maintenance check on achainsaw; How to properly file a chain; Safe work practices while using a chainsaw; How to establish a pre-felling checklist; Safe operational procedures of wood chippersincluding start-up and shut-down and routine operational inspections. After this course, you will be able to: Identify all of the required PPE; Describe a safety/maintenance check on a chainsawand wood chipper; Define how to properly file a chainsaw chain; Identify and implement safe work practices while using a chainsaw and wood chipper; Develop a proper pre-felling plan. How you will be assessed: Satisfactory participation during instructor-led and student-centered exercises And/or an end of course test using provided materials.
