Lack of enthusiasm to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives can be a challenge in any organization, including in fields like case management, where diverse client needs and perspectives are the core to personalized care. This interactive session will dive into the common reasons behind DEIB resistance and provide participants with strategies to address these challenges constructively both within the context of case management and in the workplace. Attendees will explore how fear of change, discomfort with challenging conversations, perceived threats to privilege, and unconscious bias often create barriers to DEIB progress and growth. Instead of experiencing resistance as a roadblock, this presentation will help participants see these responses as opportunities for conversations to build cultural change that supports more equitable and inclusive client care. For many people, DEIB initiatives can trigger real fears: fear of change, fear of being vulnerable in discussing sensitive topics, or fear of being judged. DEIB efforts can challenge deeply held beliefs or habits, which can be unsettling to many.
