We're going to play a strategic game called Benefits Monopoly: The Employer's Dilemma. You'll be making benefits investment decisions and facing surprise risks—just like in the real world of benefits management. In Benefits Monopoly, you'll play as a specific employer with unique workforce characteristics and challenges. Your mission is to make smart benefits investments that protect your company against unknown future risks. You'll be allocating your budget across these six categories: Proactive Health & Disease Management - think wellness programs and condition management Employee Financial Well-Being & Perks - compensation strategies and work-life benefits Medical Network Optimization - provider networks and care navigation Pharmacy Cost & Strategy - drug management and formulary design Risk & Financial Protection - stop-loss coverage and funding arrangements Cash Reserves & Contingency Planning - funds set aside for unexpected events For each round, you must allocate your full budget in 10% increments across at least three categories. An important note: The companies you're about to see are based on real-world data. They reflect a comprehensive study conducted across hundreds of employers and billions of dollars in healthcare spend, which identified 9 distinct employer 'archetypes.' Like on Law & Order, 'The Companies You Are About To See Are True. But The Names (and some data) Have Been Changed To Protect The Innocent.' Each team will receive a specific company profile with detailed information about your workforce, healthcare utilization, and other key metrics. These profiles represent real-world patterns and challenges.
