Conflict Dynamics is a 6-hour course consisting of six modules designed to be completed at your own pace. Workplace conflict has been known to interfere significantly with productivity and morale, and it creates a toxic environment that hinders innovation and decreases positive productivity. This training will create awareness about the human and financial costs of workplace conflict and teach participants how to develop a conflict competent approach to leadership. Participants will learn how to deal with highly conflictive personalities, build collaboration, increase emotional intelligence, and communicate in a style that gets results. Methods of Instruction: The instructor will employ a variety of teaching methods including lecture, written assignments, recommended readings, videos, and recommended group discussion in the Community of Practice. This Course Includes Six Learning Modules Module 1 — Conflict Basics This module will take you approximately 1 hour to complete, including video and supplemental exercises. In this module, you will learn how to define conflict, how to identify conflict competencies in leaders, and how to dive below the surface in conflict. Module 2 — Workplace Conflict This module will take you approximately 1 hour to complete, including video and supplemental exercises. In this module, you will learn about the types of workplace conflict, common contributors to workplace conflict, and the effects of workplace conflict. Module 3 — Personal Factors This module will take you approximately 1 hour to complete, including video and supplemental exercises. In this module, you will learn individual factors that play a role in how we experience and manage conflict, different conflict styles, and the role of personality. Module 4 — Dimensions of Conflict This module will take you approximately 1 hour to complete, including video and supplemental exercises. In this module, you will learn about the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral dimensions of conflict. Module 5 — A Conflict Analysis Framework This module will take you approximately 1 hour to complete, including video and supplemental exercises. In this module, you will learn a comprehensive framework by which to analyze conflict and how to apply the wheel of conflict to a case study. Module 6 — Conflict Engagement This module will take you approximately 1 hour to complete, including video and supplemental exercises. In this module, you will learn the role that leaders play in conflict, conflict engagement approaches, how leaders can use tools to transform conflict into opportunities.
