DescriptionLocation Leaders have a powerful impact on the mental health of their teams—yet many feel unequipped to recognize challenges or respond effectively. Leading for Better Mental Health is a research-informed, skill-building training based on five key recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO). This interactive 4-hour session strengthens leadership capacity around culture-setting, coaching strategies, brain-based understanding of stress and trauma, and suicide prevention. Leaders leave with practical tools to support themselves and their teams in fostering a culture of care, connection, and resilience. Participants will deepen their understanding of the prevalence and impact of mental health challenges in the workplace, identify the organizational and financial costs of stigma, and learn evidence-based approaches to supporting employee mental health. Leaders will also gain QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Certification (Question, Persuade, Refer) and explore how trauma and stress influence behavior so they can model healthy, effective workplace practices. The training is delivered in five key sections aligned with WHO best practices: Mental Health in the Workplace: Stats, costs, ROI, and the leadership imperative Brain Science: Trauma, stress, and how it shows up at work Mental Health as a Team: Coaching tools including the LASER method, motivational interviewing, and listening skills QPR Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention Certification: Recognizing warning signs and taking action in a crisis The Importance of Modeling: Establishing norms through healthy behaviors, boundaries, and transparency Mental health continues to be a top driver of retention, engagement, and organizational culture. As the WHO notes, stigma and inaction contribute to absenteeism, presenteeism, turnover, and diminished productivity—challenges leaders are uniquely positioned to influence. As one participant shared, “Knowing that I have better knowledge and resources to give has boosted my confidence… I know how important it is to lean into the discomfort.” 1N5 partners with organizations to embed mental wellness into leadership, culture, and everyday practice. Our evidence-based trainings are led by experienced facilitators and grounded in real-world workplace challenges, offering tools that go beyond awareness to create lasting change.
