Active shooter incidents have increased 52% over the past decade, yet most organizations focus solely on response training rather than prevention. This session introduces federal-level physical security strategies for civilian workplaces. Participants will master the '5 D's Framework' and systematic security assessments using 'Out to In' and 'Bottom to Top' techniques. This session will equip attendees with tools to prevent active threat situations entirely. "Learning Objectives 1: Identify the “5 D’s” of Physical Security (Deter, Detect, Deny, Delay, Defend). Learning Objectives 2: Justify why physical security is the first step to thwarting a potential active threat/shooter incident. Learning Objectives 3: Explain the “Out to In” and “Bottom to Top” approach to evaluating the physical security stance of their own building(s)."
