Organizations working on a change process, especially changing the culture of care, often get stuck during the process with where to start and where to go next. Leaders need a simple, memorable approach to clearly define the path to move the organization forward, and to invite others to be a part of leading the change effort as well. GROWTH: Six Steps for Framing Lasting Change provides an easily understood series of steps that guides them through the process that can move an organization from where they are at today to where they want to go. The model starts with a clear assessment of current reality, then moves on to share that reality with others. The next step is to dream or develop the next goal(s). That is followed by developing a plan of action, taking action and then hard-wiring the change into place so they can move on to the next change. The GROWTH model can be applied to personal, team, resident and organizational change. It can be used whether the changes are big or small. It can be easily taught to everyone in the organization so that there is a consistent tool that is used for all types of changes that need to be made. The GROWTH model matches up with other quality improvement tools as well.
