This course explains the concepts, requirements, and practical application of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), as amended by the ADA Amendments Act. The ADA makes it unlawful to discriminate in employment against a qualified individual who has a disability. The Act requires all private, state, or local government employers with 15 or more employees to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to apply for jobs and work in positions for which they are qualified, have equal access to benefits and privileges, and have an equal opportunity to be promoted once they are working. The course outlines the manager's role in ADA compliance and explores the potential consequences of failing to comply with the ADA's requirements.
