This is PART 1 of a three-part series. If a nonprofit organization has a board representative at each session, their organization will receive a certificate of achievement for completing the course. Each session and participant must register separately. This is an IN-PERSON workshop offered FREE of charge thanks to the generous support of the Junior League of Boca Raton. This first session will cover Board Basics: Governance, Roles & Policies Effective nonprofit boards don't happen; they are built with intention, clarity, and commitment. This three-part board training series gives nonprofit board and staff leaders the knowledge and tools they need to govern with confidence and lead with purpose. Whether you are a seasoned executive director, a new board chair, or someone considering your first board seat, this series will help you show up more prepared, more engaged, and more effective in one of the most important volunteer roles in your community. In Board Basics: Governance, Roles & Policies, participants explore the legal and structural foundation of nonprofit governance from bylaws and financial oversight to the three duties of board service. The session covers the distinction between governance and management and how to avoid conflicts of interest. Goal: To provide an overview of best practices in board governance and structure.
