Upon completion of this self-paced course, participants are able to: (1) recognize the hidden dynamics — assumptions, emotional states, and interpretation — that cause communication breakdowns, and separate fact from story in workplace conversations (Communication); (2) communicate with clarity and ownership to reduce defensiveness and strengthen psychological safety (Communication; Relationship Management); (3) practice deep listening that prioritizes understanding over responding, building trust and connection (Relationship Management); (4) address concerns directly and courageously rather than avoiding difficult conversations (Leadership & Navigation; Communication); (5) remain emotionally grounded and hold space during emotionally charged conversations while maintaining healthy boundaries (Leadership & Navigation); and (6) repair communication breakdowns through accountability and ownership to rebuild trust (Relationship Management). This program aligns with the SHRM BASK behavioral competencies of Communication, Relationship Management, and Leadership & Navigation.

Communicating with Impact is a self-paced professional development course that strengthens the communication capabilities most essential to effective leadership: clarity, trust, and collaboration. Across six structured modules combining instructional video, applied on-screen learning, a reflective workbook, and a knowledge assessment, participants examine why communication breaks down beneath the surface, then build practical skills for speaking with clarity and ownership, listening deeply, holding difficult conversations directly, staying grounded during emotionally charged moments, and repairing breakdowns to rebuild trust. Grounded in communication and nervous-system awareness, the course helps new and experienced leaders communicate in ways that reduce defensiveness, increase psychological safety, and strengthen working relationships. It closes with reflection and integration tools, including a personal communication compass and a 30-day commitment plan, designed to transfer the skills into daily leadership practice.
