The purpose of this home study course is to teach professionals how to use slogans, analogies, and parables to address addictive thinking. This course focuses on common cognitive distortions and how slogans in particular can be used to change this type of thinking. The course consists of a thirty-page booklet and an accompanying test. The booklet describes addictive thinking in terms of cognitive distortions, denial, etc. The description of each distortion is followed by slogans, analogies, and parables that address them. The text suggests exercises to be used with each distortion. Professionals read Changing Addictive Thinking: Slogans, analogies, & parables. They take a 25-item test. If they answer 75% of the questions correctly, they are awarded three PDCs.
