According to the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge (BASK), the Leadership & Navigation competency requires HR professionals and organizational leaders to lead through change, influence stakeholders, and drive results through adaptability and strategic thinking. This Leadershift course is designed to fulfill those requirements by introducing participants to real-world change models, communication frameworks, and personal growth strategies grounded in emotional intelligence and self-awareness. Objective: To guide participants in developing their own leadership agility by applying John Maxwell’s 'Leadershifts'—a set of intentional pivots that enable more authentic, resilient, and results-driven leadership. 1. Introduction to Leadershift • Define what it means to make a 'leadershift' and why it matters now more than ever. • Discuss the difference between leadership agility and static leadership models • Review Maxwell’s most critical shifts, including: from goals to growth, from pleasing people to challenging people, and from maintaining to creating 2. Shift 1 – Soloist to Conductor • Explore how leaders must evolve from doers to developers of people • Discuss delegation, empowerment, and team alignment • Engage in a group activity mapping current vs. ideal leadership behaviors 3. Shift 2 – Direction to Connection • Examine how connection builds trust and fuels motivation • Practice communication strategies rooted in empathy and active listening • Use coaching models to frame more meaningful one-on-one conversations 4. Shift 3 – Stability to Agility • Explore what it means to lead with flexibility during change and disruption • Apply real-world case studies where agility influenced organizational success • Design a change-readiness checklist based on team needs 5. Shift 4 – Perks to Purpose • Understand the growing demand for mission- and values-based leadership • Map your team’s work to a larger vision using a purpose alignment framework • Discuss how purpose inspires performance beyond transactional rewards 6. Application and Personal Action Plan • Each participant selects one shift to focus on over the next 90 days • Develop a measurable action plan including reflection prompts and accountability strategies • Partner with a peer to share insights, challenges, and progress post-session
