Explain how ageism and ableism intertwine with loneliness, helplessness and boredom and impact our health and well-being e. Identify 2 person-directed care concepts/ideas/approaches that they will integrate into their care partner role f. Name 2 tools in their Eden Toolkit that they can use to engage and educate others about The Eden Alternative

What is the relevance of this topic/theme to the potential audience? This inspiration application training of 3 days will teach participants how to guide their facility(s) though the Eden Principles and practices of the Eden Alternative to explore solutions to challenges in their work environment. This training helps participants to acquire proven skills, tools and ideas necessary to bring real transformation to organizations and meaning back into the lives of the elders and their care partners. Participants will leave inspired, hopeful and prepared to start or continue the culture change journey. Attendees will receive a workbook, along with the Haleigh Almanac CD that has resources and tools on culture change, In the Arms of Elders Eden products and handouts. Major emphasis will be placed on how to bring the Eden Alternative practices and Principles to life within a facility. Practical application steps, including brainstorming, team approach, and consensus decisions, are demonstrated through team exercises. Concepts covered in the training are practiced and tested using numerous class exercises. The workbook provides opportunities for individuals to document what is learned in the class. Opportunity to practice on bringing the Principles back to their organization is covered on the last day of the class.
