The PoSH Subject Matter Expert (SME) Certificate Course is structured as a Train-the-Trainer workshop designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to deliver effective anti-sexual harassment training and serve as External Members for organizations. The workshop opens with a focus on creating a safe workplace, emphasizing the importance of diversity and inclusion, gender sensitization, addressing unconscious bias, and supporting mental wellness in harassment-related contexts. The next segment offers a comparative overview of anti-sexual harassment laws, beginning with the Indian PoSH Act—covering its history, purpose, key components, definitions, the 4Ps, and redressal procedures—and extending to legal frameworks in the United States, Canada, and other global geographies, with attention to policies, legal terms, and cultural differences. The third area of focus is employee awareness. Participants are trained to educate employees on the SHWW (PPR) Act, 2013, the definition and types of sexual harassment, identifying the parties involved, the role and responsibilities of the Internal Committee (IC), how to file complaints, the rights and duties of employees, and the role of bystanders in harassment prevention. This is followed by an in-depth module on the Internal Committee, which prepares participants to act as competent External Members. It covers key concepts defined under the law, the IC’s role and powers (including civil court-like functions), confidentiality challenges, principles of natural justice, and jurisdiction determined through practical case studies. It also includes identifying which complaints are valid under the Act and which are not—such as anonymous or suo motu complaints—and walks through the redressal mechanism in detail, including registration, conduct, investigation, documentation, conciliation or inquiry procedures, sensitive interviewing, managing emotional distress, and handling retaliation or police involvement. The module further covers drafting inquiry reports, determining recommendations, virtual hearing protocols, statutory reporting, and good IC practices. A dedicated simulation activity is included to help participants experience a realistic role-play of case enquiry. The fifth module focuses on training methodology, guiding participants on how to deliver engaging and impactful sessions. This includes integrating the ADDIE model, practical tips and tricks for trainers, engagement techniques, and tools to encourage interaction. The sixth section involves structured assessments, beginning with a knowledge-based MCQ test, followed by evaluation of individual or group training delivery sessions, and concludes with group or individual feedback.
