As a result of this presentation the participant will be able to... *Decrease reliance on psychotropic medications; *Reframe "problem behaviors: an unmet needs; *Identify the limitations of our current approach to care for those living with dementia; *Improve communication and promote positive, affirming interactions; *Envision an "experiential model" for viewing dementia and recognize the importance of enhancing well-being for all; and *Apply the model to everyday situations and reduce challenging interactions through creative solutions that empower individuals to live full and positive lives.

By the end of this training, participants will be able to: a. Explain the value of deep-knowing relationships among care partners b. Identify 3 barriers that prevent the implementation of person-directed care and identify at least 1 way to move past each barrier c. Name 3 of the 7 Eden Alternative Domains of Well-Being d. Explain how ageism and ableism intertwine with loneliness, helplessness and boredom and impact our health and well-being e. Identify 2 person-directed care concepts/ideas/approaches that they will integrate into their care partner role f. Name 2 tools in their Eden Toolkit that they can use to engage and educate others about The Eden Alternative
