1. The Status Quo – Honestly Addressing and Identifying Your Challenges (10 minutes) When you're a lean HR team at a small-to-medium business, you're not just a recruiter; you're often a generalist who wears many different HR hats. You might handle everything from payroll to performance reviews to offboarding. What are the biggest challenges that limited resources and time create for you? When your tech isn't working for you, it can often create a lot of manual, repetitive work – making your life even harder. We'll talk about some "fire drills" or common, time-consuming tasks you and your team face (or that you’ve faced in previous roles) that you believe the right hiring software should be able to solve. In many organizations, HR tech exists in silos. You have one system for payroll, another for applicant tracking, and maybe another for performance management. This fragmented approach creates problems for the business. We'll talk about how to overcome this. 2. Making the Business Case / Quantifying Your Challenges (10 minutes) When you're looking to buy or switch HR tech, you're not just buying a piece of software; you're building a business case. Where do you begin to identify your biggest pain points? What are the most important metrics or data points you should be gathering to prove the ROI of a new system? It is NOT always easy to get budget for new tools, team members, etc., with a lean HR team. We'll give some advice for someone who's about to present a proposal to their CFO or leadership team, and we'll show you how TAs frame the conversation so it resonates with leadership. Making an effective/quantifiable business case. What to focus on, and how to get it approved. What to do when you don't get approval? 3. Selecting and Implementing the Right Tech for YOUR NEEDS (20 minutes) The HR tech market is crowded and noisy – far too many companies are chasing the “shiny, trendy vendors.” What are some key questions our attendees should ask when evaluating potential vendors? A system is only as good as its implementation and adoption. We'll talk about some of the biggest mistakes we've seen companies make during the onboarding phase. What are some tips for ensuring a smooth transition for you, other recruiters, and other stakeholders who will need to use the system? How do you measure success after a new system has been implemented? What does "good" look like after a few months?
